Announcing the Charlie King Changemaker Awards
Today we are proud to announce the Charlie King ChangeMaker Awards.
Across the Northern Territory, there are people taking action every day to help end domestic and family violence. Some are doing it through their work. Some through sport, business or community. Some are leading major initiatives, while others are quietly making a difference in the places they live and work.
We want to recognise them.
The new Charlie King ChangeMaker Awards will celebrate individuals, organisations, groups and initiatives making a meaningful contribution to ending domestic and family violence across the NT. And we couldn’t think of a better person for the Awards to be named after. For more than 20 years, Dr Charlie King AM has used his voice, his relationships and every opportunity available to him to challenge violence and encourage Territorians to stand together and say NO MORE.
The Awards will recognise ChangeMakers across the regions of the NT, with Regional recipients celebrated during the 16 Days of Activism against Gendered Violence. One Regional recipient will also be selected as the NT ChangeMaker, with the Award presented at our Casuarina NO MORE March in Darwin on 4 December.
A ChangeMaker doesn’t need a particular job title or work in the DFV sector. It could be an Elder, a community member, a sporting club, a business, a frontline worker, an advocate, a program or an organisation. If they are making their community safer, we want to hear about them. Nominations will open on 26 August, when THE STAND begins, and close on 3 November 2026.
THE STAND is about taking action.
The Charlie King ChangeMaker Awards are about recognising the people who already are.
Who is making a difference in your community?
Get ready to nominate your ChangeMaker from 26 August.
