Linking arms in a stand against domestic violence

All three fixtures are going to be proceeded with the symbolic linking of arms during Saturday night’s block buster NTRL and NRL games.

NTRL players from the women’s city verses country game, the men’s Katherine verses Alice Springs game, and both NRL teams the Eels and Raiders will link arms as a symbol of the community standing up against family violence to support CatholicCare NT’s NO MORE campaign.

NO MORE campaigner Charlie King said we recently met with NTRL presidents to encourage the development of club strategies and sanctions to reduce the levels of family violence in our community.

“The symbolic linking of arms reminds us that we need to work together to respond to acts of family violence and support change.

“We are calling on all sporting clubs, no matter what your code to develop domestic violence action plans,” he said.

John Mitchell, General Manager NTRL said this was about promoting a safer community.

“NTRL fully supports the NO MORE campaign and stand against domestic violence,” said Mr Mitchell.

CatholicCare NT can help sporting clubs develop tailored domestic violence action plans. Call 1800 899 855 to find out how or visit  www.nomore.org.au for more information.
