Host a NO MORE Round

Use the power of sport to end domestic and family violence.

The NO MORE Round is a dedicated game or round within your sporting season where your club, players, officials and community come together to say NO MORE to domestic and family violence. Thank you for taking a stand and supporting NO MORE by hosting your own NO MORE Round. This round is a simple, powerful way for your club to promote respect, equality, and the prevention of domestic and family violence in your sporting community.

By taking part, your club joins a growing movement of teams, leagues and communities using the power of sport to say NO MORE to violence.

What is NO MORE?

NO MORE is a campaign of CatholicCare NT, founded in 2006 by Gurindji man and ABC commentator Dr Charlie King AM, after listening to Aboriginal Elders call for men to take responsibility to end violence. NO MORE works with sporting organisations, workplaces, councils, communities and all those wanting to make change to challenge harmful attitudes and create safer families and communities.

Linking arms – players, coaches, officials and supporters standing together – has become a powerful symbol of unity, accountability and a shared commitment to ending domestic and family violence. More than a symbol, NO MORE is a movement where we “Engage to Empower”; supporting individuals and organisations to take a stand against domestic and family violence.

Why run a NO MORE Round?

By running a NO MORE Round or game, your sporting organisation can:

  • Lead by example | Show your community that your club stands for more than just winning—you stand for respect, safety and equality, and violence and abuse have no place in your sport or community.
  • Start important conversations | Create conversations about leadership, sportsmanship and being an upstander. Build a team culture where everyone feels safe and supported.
  • Become a safe space | Domestic and family violence impacts people in every community. Your NO MORE Round makes your club a visible safe space where players, families and supporters can access information, feel supported, and know that violence is not acceptable and help is available.
  • Amplify the impact | Join a movement alongside professional leagues and grass roots clubs. Share your NO MORE Round on social media and media platforms to inspire others and raise your club’s profile.

Domestic Violence Action Plans (DVAPs) and your NO MORE Round

A Domestic Violence Action Plan (DVAP) is simply a list of agreed actions to promote safety, respect and equality. Your club’s DVAP can be as straightforward as committing to host a NO MORE Round each season, or extend to actions like updating policies, educating members and providing support to people.

If your community already has a DVAP, you can add “Run a NO MORE Round” as one of the actions in that plan – or use your existing plan to guide when and how you hold your round.

If your community does not yet have a DVAP, choosing to host a NO MORE Round can be your first DVAP action. By folding your NO MORE Round into a simple DVAP (even if it only has this one action to begin with), you’re showing that your club is serious about ongoing, community‑led change, not just a one‑off event.

How to run your NO MORE Round – 3 simple steps

Step 1: Pick your date and register

  • Choose any game or round that works for your calendar. Consider aligning it with key dates like International Women’s Day, International Men’s Day, the 16 Days of Activism against Gendered Violence, during THE STAND, or early in your season to have the biggest impact.
  • Register your event by emailing nomore@catholiccarent.org.au.
  • We will send you everything you need: scripts, social media content and digital assets.

Step 2: Prepare your round

2–4 weeks before your game:

  • Promote it. Announce your NO MORE Round via email, club newsletter, social media and team chats. Use the hashtag #NoMoreRound.
  • Brief your people. Prepare your MC/announcer with game‑day scripts. Organise a committee member, MPIO or welfare officer to be the contact person for anyone with questions.
  • Plan your activations:
    • Linking arms moment (all players and officials before the game).
    • Leader from your organisation to speak about what the day means.
    • NO MORE representative attending who can speak to teams or clubs before the game or in training sessions leading up to the day (where possible).
    • Spirit of the Game Medal presentation (recognising respect and fair play).
    • Set up an Action Wall or similar where players, volunteers and supporters can write one action they will take to help end domestic and family violence (you can also direct them to our online wall where they can pledge electronically).

Step 3: Run your game day

On the day:

  • Display NO MORE banners around your venue (we can provide, subject to availability).
  • Players and officials wear orange (wristbands, scarves, tape, socks – whatever works).
  • Linking arms moment: Before the game, both teams and officials line up on the field, link arms facing the crowd, and stand together in solidarity. This powerful image represents unity and accountability.
  • Use the PA/MC scripts at pre‑game, half‑time and post‑game.
  • Present the Spirit of the Game Medal to a player, umpire, scorer, volunteer and/or team who models the behaviours that do not condone violence – respect, teamwork and leadership.
  • Share photos on social media: tag nomore.org.au and use #NoMoreRound #NoMoreViolence.

Fundraising

The primary purpose of NO MORE Rounds is awareness, education and empowering people to take positive action in their own clubs and communities. However, NO MORE is a charity and our work is only possible with ongoing funding and community support.

If your sporting organisation or community is in a position to do so, we encourage you to:

  • Add a simple fundraiser to your NO MORE Round (for example, a donation tin, gold‑coin entry, raffle or canteen percentage).
  • Share NO MORE’s donation page with your members and supporters and invite those who are able to contribute.
  • Every dollar helps us deliver more education, resources and support to communities across the Territory.
